Correct answer: 1952 A.D.

Explanation: The Community Development Programme (CDP) was launched on 2nd October 1952, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. It was the first major rural development initiative in independent India, aimed at bringing about all-round development of rural areas through agriculture, irrigation, communication, health, and education. The programme adopted a multi-purpose and integrated approach, involving people’s participation. CDP laid the foundation for later rural development schemes like the Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) and Panchayati Raj System.
